Give It A Go!
An extension to my blog on "5 Adventure Seeking Activities in Auckland"... who doesn't want a bit more adventure, right?
Check out the original post here:
Five more of my most fun and adventurous things to do in Auckland, NZ ...
Surfing and Kitesurfing: Ōrewa, Red Beach or Muriwai, east and west coast surf options in Auckland.
So you have just spent the morning at Snow Planet, in Silverdale, north of Auckland city centre and now you're looking for something really unique and fun to tell your friends and family back home, take a 15 minute drive north to enjoy the surf of Ōrewa Beach or Red Beach, on the east coast, or a 45 minute drive out to the black-sand beaches of Muriwai or Piha, on the west coast and surf or kitesurf the dynamic wild waters of the Tasman Sea. You could get to visit both coastlines of New Zealand in 50 minutes! Ski in the morning and surf in the afternoon, what else could you ask for in the life of a travelling adventurer?!
I am not affiliated to any of these, but have used them when needed, so for your benefit for hireage or lessons:
Spookers Haunted Attraction Theme Park, Kingseat, South Auckland
Finished your rafting at the Wero Whitewater Park and it's a Friday or a Saturday? Still wanting a thrill, maybe another reason to scream? You could drive 5 minutes down the road to Rainbows End Theme Park for some roller coasting or, what about heading over to Spookers Haunted Attraction Theme Park? Only another 25 minutes south from Wero Park and you are in Kingseat, Karaka and the former home to a psychiatric hospital, now turned into a place of spine-chilling thrills and heart-pounding horrors, as you immerse yourself into the atmosphere of the new tenants; zombie brides, chainsaw maniacs and evil clowns. Welcome to Australasia's only haunted theme park, a live entertainment experience, where you become the victim and only the brave dare to visit. Will you leave with your vocal cords intact, will they even let you out ....?

Woodhill Mountain Bike Park, Woodhill Forest, West Auckland
Ever tried Disc Golf? Looking for something to do after your ride through the forest and your recovery coffee? Have a go at Disc (frisbee) Golf. There is a course onsite at the park and it is free to enter... should you require a frisbee, these are available for hire at only $5. The course length can be 9-18 holes, depending upon your level of skill.
For something a bit more adventurous, just down the road is Tree Adventures. Swing, jump, zip and slide your way through the treetops at New Zealand's first forest adventure park.
Jumping from high buildings, Auckland City .. it's not only for Superman!
Just come down from the Auckland Harbour Bridge and you're wanting to add a jump from another tall Auckland structure? Across town, 10 minutes drive, you have New Zealand's tallest building, The Sky Tower, and the opportunity to jump from it or do a walk around it, 192m up. Challenge your sense of balance, conquer your fear of heights or master the cards in the casino, whatever your choice, Sky City offers edge of your seat entertainment and the views are worth the visit... and you will have the video and tee shirt to prove it!
Crew on a yacht in the weekday races, Waitemata Harbour, Auckland City
Auckland, Tāmaki Makaurau, is known as the City of Sails. Wanting to get out on the beautiful Waitematā Harbour for some sailing regatta experiences, then head down to the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron base on Westhaven Drive, Westhaven Marina, (just along from the Auckland Harbour Bridge Experience). As New Zealand's leading yacht club, with a long and rich history, it is still the official home of the America's Cup. Sign up to crew on the Wednesday or Friday races, maybe in the women's only race, or further your yachting skills with a sailing course.
To end your day of fun things in Auckland, or simply to soothe your body ....
Treat yourself to a beautiful massage from one of Auckland's leading massage therapists. Maybe it's a sports massage, a remedial massage or simply just for the bliss and relaxation of it, I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed. With over 20 years experience, Cheryl knows her stuff!
Head down to the new studio in North Boxing Academy, 4 Hibiscus Coast Highway, Silverdale, 5 mins drive from Snow Planet.
And if you don't enjoy quite the action and adventure whilst visiting Auckland ... let me take you on a blog through Auckland activities that will open your mind, showcase natural beauty, and encourage your creative flair!
