This is how I saw, and felt, Africa....

Two months travelling through Africa, Intrepid Travel, 'Africa Encompassed Southbound'..
As the world's second-largest and second-most populated continent, with approximately 30 million sqkm and covering 20% of the Earth's land area, whilst holding nearly 1.55 billion people, we have a lot of land to cover and people to meet! So, let's get started ...
This is going to be a series of short blogs, mainly a photo narrative, with the intention to describe how I saw and felt Africa, so we will cover a couple of days at a time or stay a day longer, should we have some extra exploring to do. Pack your passport with visas into your back pack, have your camera ready and let's board the truck-bus!
Where are we going and who are we with?
As described in my blog Across the vast lands of Africa... travelling solo on tour, in the bus that was a truck! I booked two months on tour in Africa with Intrepid Travel, (Africa Encompassed Southbound), four tours from Kenya to South Africa, with a whole lot in between. It was generally a camping tour and I upgraded to hotel rooms when I felt like it. There were many included excursions and I chose to add on a number myself. All in all, it was an easy process from start to finish, the people I travelled with were heaps of fun and my three tour guides were fantastic! So let's get going ....
Starting in Nairobi, Kenya.
Meeting up in the hotel to get acquainted with my fellow travellers, it is funny to look back at how we were all strangers, gathered together for the sake of sharing an adventure, yet we would leave as friends, with some amazing stories to tell. Mainly Kiwis and Aussies, it was always going to be a wild ride!
On a tour bus we travel between A-B in a variety of ways, some sleep, some play cards, some talk, some read or watch movies on their phones; I love to stare out the window and watch the goings-on of the people who live in the places that I travel through and I want to share with you some of what I saw.
This is how I saw it ... Images across Africa!
Travelling from our hotel in Nairobi ...
...through Kikuyu Escarpment Forest, Lari and Mai Mahiu...
...Nakuru, Naivasha and Gilgil...
... Lake Elementaita and Nakuru, and on to our camping ground in the Lake Nakuru National Park!
Summary:
The excitement of seeing all sorts of animals along the roadside was my major thrill as I started out, to see wild animals wandering along as naturally as herds of goats and cows was really fantastic and I felt such a sense of joy at what was to come on this journey. Setting up tent was easy and our first night around our camp fire was fun, still a bit tentative and only to get better as we all got to know each other and relax into the group environment; it really is your journey, so make of it what feels best to you.
From here we will head to our first safari in the Lake Nakuru National Park, so see you there ....
