Text on a gray background reads: "DON'T TELL PEOPLE YOUR DREAMS. SHOW THEM." Letters have a wood texture, creating a motivational tone.
Every thing starts as an idea, a dream, a thought ...

Albert Einstein said, "imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

This all started in my imagination, grew through my experiences and continues to expand in new and exciting ways.

A change of direction in life lead me to Elam's Fine Art School, at The University of Auckland, the study of Pablo Picasso's painting 'Guernica'(1937) and to the thought in my mind, "how can I fully appreciate an artwork of such magnitude from the pages of an art book?" It was the spark that would take me around the world, to many art musuems, many countries and all sorts of experiences.

This blog aims to offer my unique perspective of this world, created for my own joy of the reliving of it in a new way and the desire to be a spark of inspiration for anyone attracted here, that they might too dare to dream...

Abstract painting with distorted figures and animals in black, white, and gray. Chaotic scene with expressions of anguish and turmoil.
'Guernica" (1937), Oil painting, 3.5m(H) x 7.8m(W). This massive artwork is Pablo Picasso's anti-war statement, portraying the suffering wrought by violence and war. Housed at the Museo Reina Sofia, in Madrid

The painting was commissioned for the Spanish Pavilion at the 1937 Paris International Exposition. It was created in response to the bombing of Guernica by the German Luftwaffe on April 26, 1937, during the Spanish Civil War.

Monochrome mural depicting chaotic figures, animals, and abstract shapes in a gallery setting with a tiled floor, evoking a sense of distress.
Almost a year to the day, here I was, standing in front of Guernica at the Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain

It was when I stood in front of Guernica, a year later and having already travelled widely, that I fully became aware that I had set all of this into motion through a desire to see this painting in its fullness and scale and if that was the case, then what else can I set into motion through dreams, desires, quietness and thought. As Einstein also said, "there are two ways to live, you can live as if nothing is a miracle or as if everything is a miracle."
