Behind the scenes with my blog I have my amazing daughter Jess guiding me with any help that I may need along the way, especially of the moral support kind, and today I want to welcome my first, (of many more inspirational people to come), writing guest on my blog site; My mum!
Mum was the catalyst for our recent trip to Wellington to watch the WOW show, and she woke up at 2am a few nights ago and was inspired to write this ode, which she then asked me to illustrate and publish for her ... enjoy the experience through her lyrical words.
Co-creating at its best!
My Ode to WOW 2025
For anyone who finds the words to small on the video presentation ...
"An Ode To My WOW 2025 Experience"
Written by Maureen Fifield, illustrated by Sarah Hadwin.
WOW!
Oh, so wow.
Seven months it took,
seven months of waiting.
Waiting patiently through
the months of Autumn,
the months of Winter.
Forever it seemed!
And then it happened,
Spring arrived,
and with its awakening,
we gathered together.
Mothers, daughters, aunties,
cousins, daughters-in-law and
two special friends,
the Maurettes were now,
and leading the pack, Maureen.
Fifteen we were,
they came from near and far,
huddled together, waiting,
as dawn approached,
waiting for our adventure to begin!
As day was breaking, we
stepped off our coach,
and there it was,
sleek, shining, our
New Zealand Rail carriage!
We were on our way to
create our own magic.
Three days in Wellington,
the highlight being WOW!
What wonderful magic we make!
At Rydges Hotel Wellington, we
unpacked our costumes,
swam, bathed and soaked.
Like pearls,
Wellington was our oyster.
So much crammed into three days!
Together,
we walked Te Papa,
crying, as we walked through our
heartbreaking ANZAC memories.
Laughing, as we cycled the
Crocodiles, and oh how we
enjoyed our strawberry and
cream croissants!
The highlight of it all
had arrived,
we dressed in our costumes,
and Ubered to the stadium,
we were there, amongst the
glamour and glitter that is WOW!
We had arrived!
All the performing arts,
singing, trapeze, comedian, dance,
and the competing costumes!
It was all there, and all
worth the waiting!
And, oh it didn't end there,
next morning another hearty
breakfast at Rydges and
we Ubered out through the rain..
To Weta Workshops, where
we saw how they
create magic,
more than magic!
Then, a sad goodbye, as
Danielle heads back to
Melbourne, and our flight
takes us to Auckland, each of
us taking a piece of the magic!
WOWed, oh so wowed!
