Part three of our WOW Experience brings the show to life and the fun we had around the whole event. WOW is all about "taking art off the wall and adorning the body" and we jumped onboard ourselves with our own bit of creativity.

Creating our own ideas of taking Art off the Wall and Adorning the Body...

Planning our trip, I put out the challenge to our group, for whoever felt inspired, to take our experience further by dressing up as per one of the six WOW section themes; Aotearoa, Air, Avante Garde, Open, Neon and Myths and Legends, or the main theme of 'Rise', with our group coordinating colour being navy ... the group rose to the occasion and on the night we certainly turned many heads! It was such a lot of fun and truly did expand the whole experience for us.

The 2025 WOW Show, "RISE"

The show itself was a fast paced and action filled extravaganza .. To say the least! There was singing and dancing, theatrics and aerialists, comedians and performers, and tucked in amongst it all, the artistic creations and the costumes themselves.

We had Gold seats and were up above, looking down upon the event, giving us an overall view of it all. Mum has sat closer and at ground level on previous occasions and said that the height did give a greater appreciation of the whole event, while lower down is a bit more immersive.

No photography allowed during the show so the above images are from the WOW Facebook page, check out their videos and images from this year's event, it's well worth the look:

It is an award show ..

Amdist all the performance, glamour and glitz, it is sometimes easy to forget that this is an artistic competition, so to round it all up, here are the supreme winners...

Winner: The winners of the 2025 WOW Supreme Award are Dawn Mostow and Ben Gould from the United States for their creation Tsukumogami. The award-winning garment is an intricate latex piece inspired by ancient Japanese mythology and ceramics.

Runner-up: The runner-up for the Supreme WOW Award in 2025 was

Fifi Colston from New Zealand for her garment Meine Erste Liebe. A piece inspired by the tragic 19th-century love story of a German botanical artist and his wife.

Conclusion

To conclude, WOW is a great experience for anyone who enjoys art, theatre, or any form of creativity and performance, and one that I thoroughly recommend. Whether you do the Great Journeys Train VIP Experience package, or simply arrange it yourself, attend the awards presentation night, or one of the alternative performances, if you have the time and inclination to go, from 17 September-04 October 2026, at the TSB Arena in Wellington, New Zealand, book your seat and be prepared to be WOWed .. I might even see you there!
