A woman sits on a driftwood log, gazing at the ocean. She wears a striped shirt and shorts. Rocky coastline with clear blue sky.
My home is someone else's destination!

Every journey starts somewhere. Every place called a stopover is someone else’s home. So let’s begin this journey together from the place that I called home. Tāmaki Makaurau.

At the beginning of my adventures to ‘look within through my experiences without,’ Tãmaki Makaurau, Auckland, New Zealand surrounded me.  I called it “home.” In truth, it had become unrecognisable to me in many ways and so I had the choice to dwell in thoughts that were only going to end up in misery, sickness and death or I could see it afresh, think differently and appreciate what was still very clear to me, life is fun and we are here to express love and joy. Because that is the essence of Who We Really Are.

I saw people my age starting to pass away because they had become disheartened and afraid of change and I made the decision to explore that question that we all ask at some point in life, “Who Am I, what’s it all about?” And with that simple willingness to know, new ideas and new perspectives flowed into my awareness that told me that there is a much Grander Plan at hand, that we are so much more than this physical perspective!

And so, with new Spiritual Understandings and the Power of Thought and Faith, I was struck with the adventurous desire to explore and like any pilgrim I set out on a journey to unlock the Truth Within, deciding that I was going to honour life and live it fully! With my motto being, “To See and Experience The Best That The World Has To Offer,” I packed up my home and set out, my camera being my diary, my thoughts and inspirations being my guidebook and a trust that 'everything is always working out for me' being my faithful companion. This is my journey. So far.

A red scallop shell partially buried in dark, textured sand. The shell's ribs and color contrast with the speckled and grainy background.
Widely associated with the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage treks in Spain and Portugal, the scallop shell is the symbol of spiritual transformation, guidance and the interconnectedness of pilgrims. As well as protection, birth, renewal and the wonders of the ocean.

So many wonderful sights, sounds, tastes, fun and people along the way and now a new perspective and avenue to share through and make new friends. To inspire another to travel and explore, or to allow others to see the world through my images without the need to leave home or to offer an honest account of the beauty and love that is everywhere, is the aim of this blog, for anyone that it attracts. I will speak to you through these words, as if you are standing next to me and sharing the same scene that my camera captured. It won’t be formal, but I hope that it will be heartfelt. You won’t hear my accent, but maybe, just maybe, if you listen for the still small voice within, you will hear your own Soul calling to you to remember, to remember who you are too ....

I am so glad to have you along. Lets go!

Person bungee jumping off a platform inside a structure, arms outstretched. Observers watch; one holds a yellow safety item. Excited mood.
"Then right before my eyes, she flew. She actually flew like a bird..and that changed the course of my life forever." James Patterson, When the Wind Blows. Bungy Jump and Bridge Walk, Auckland Harbour Bridge, NZ

AJ Hackett Bungy Jump. Auckland Harbour Bridge, 40 metres above the Waitemata Harbour. https://www.bungy.co.nz/auckland/auckland-bridge/

Climb to the top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, where you can also jump from it attached to a bungy cord ... You can even choose to dip your head in the water.

The practice of tethered jumping with vines dates back centuries in Vanuatu and was popularised in 1987 by NZer AJ Hackett when he jumped from the Eiffel Tower in Paris. There are many places around NZ where you can enjoy a bungy jump or swing. Dare yourself!

Based Inner City in Auckland for the first time in my life I decided to walk and bike and explore. Sights in and around Auckland City .. some things that I saw in Tãmaki Makaurau, Auckland, New Zealand.
