Intrepid Travel Tour

My travel experience of Rwanda was part of being on an Intrepid Travel tour, making it easy and fun. I was travelling May-July, on what was predominantly a camping tour, with small group sizes, all the on-ground details being taken care of for me, pre travel and on tour, when necessary. I thoroughly recommend doing as many excursions as you can, they really do enhance the experience and boost the local economy.

Rwanda was an excursion for me and I crossed the border from Uganda for a day trip, with a small group, in a minivan. Of note, the past traumas and conflict of the country are part of the modern day tourism and if you are not interested in that, as I wasn't, then you can find other ways to appreciate what the country is now like, whilst having a general awareness of what it has been through. I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, the atmosphere, and how the country is rebuilding itself. One of our group had done a Gorilla Trek in Rwanda, and thoroughly recommended it, or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Gorilla Trekking is just across the border in Uganda.

Road access from neighbouring countries, through immigration at the border, is an easy option to extend your travelling.
